The Verde Island Bayanihan & Ecological Foundation
Empowering Communities. Protecting Our Environment.
Welcome to The VIBE.
Welcome to the Verde Island Bayanihan and Ecological Foundation. We are a registered non-profit organization dedicated to the harmonious coexistence of the local communities and the breathtaking natural environment of Verde Island. Rooted in the Filipino spirit of Bayanihan (communal unity and cooperation), we work hand-in-hand with locals to build sustainable futures while safeguarding one of the world's most vital marine ecosystems.
Who We Are
To foster sustainable development on Verde Island by providing livelihood opportunities, spearheading environmental conservation efforts, and championing responsible ecotourism that respects both nature and local heritage.
Our Mission
Our Vision
A thriving, self-sufficient Verde Island community living as active stewards of a pristine, globally recognized ecological sanctuary.
Our Core Pillars
Provide a short summary of your recent projects, highlighting the most important things.
Community Livelihood Assistance
We believe that environmental conservation starts with economic stability. We empower the residents of Verde Island by providing sustainable, alternative sources of income that reduce reliance on extractive practices.
Skills Training: Offering workshops in sustainable fishing practices, organic farming, and traditional artisanal crafts.
Micro-Enterprise Support: Providing seed funding and mentorship for local businesses, from eco-friendly souvenir creation to community-managed food stalls.
Women's Empowerment Programs: Supporting local women in establishing cooperatives that produce and sell local goods.
Promotion of Ecotourism
We invite the world to experience the beauty of Verde Island responsibly. Our ecotourism initiatives are designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing the benefits to the local economy.
Community-Based Tourism: Training locals to become accredited eco-guides, ensuring that tourism revenue stays within the community.
Homestay Programs: Facilitating authentic cultural exchanges by organizing certified homestays with local families.
Responsible Travel Education: Educating visitors on "Leave No Trace" principles and safe diving/snorkeling practices to protect the delicate coral reefs.
Care for the Environment
Verde Island sits at the heart of the Verde Island Passage, famously known as the "Center of the Center of Marine Shorefish Biodiversity" in the world. Protecting this unparalleled natural treasure is at our core.
Marine Conservation: Partnering with local authorities to monitor and protect marine sanctuaries, coral reefs, and endangered aquatic life.
Coastal Cleanups & Waste Management: Organizing regular community-led coastal cleanups and implementing island-wide recycling and proper waste disposal education.
Reforestation Initiatives: Planting native trees to prevent soil erosion and protect the island’s watershed.
Get Involved
The spirit of Bayanihan means we cannot do this alone. Whether you are a local resident, a passionate traveler, or a global advocate for the environment, there is a place for you here.
